Drill Man (or Drillman) is a Robot Master first appearing in Mega Man 4 and is one of the eight Robot Masters originally built by Dr. Cossack.
As his name suggests, Drill Man is themed around drills, possessing one on each hand and another on top of his head. His weapon, the Drill Bomb, lets him fire exploding drills forward, and he is also able to dig and move underground.
In the Games
Mega Man 4
In Mega Man 4, Drill Man is one of the main eight Robot Master bosses and appears as the second-to-last choice (in reading order) on the stage select screen. His stage is entirely underground, taking place in a mine.
In battle, Drill Man's most prominent move is to turn invincible and drill into the ground, remaining hidden for some time until he eventually reemerges under Mega Man, forcing the latter to keep moving to avoid this attack. He is also able to jump towards Mega Man, or repeatedly fire his signature weapon while walking towards him, which shoots drills that block shots and explode when they hit a wall.
Drill Man's weakness is the Dive Missile from Dive Man, which deals 3 damage per hit, but can sometimes go around him and potentially be wasted due to its imprecise homing ability. Defeating him grants Mega Man the Drill Bomb and Rush Jet.
Mega Man X DiVE
In the mobile game Mega Man X DiVE, Drill Man features as a boss that can be fought as a Boss Challenge to earn a Chip, though he does not appear in any of the Story stages.
He retain his digging and Drill Bomb abilities from Mega Man 4, but has an added power that allows him to become invincible while releasing several drills, which first go off the screen before slowly flying across in a complex grid of horizontal, vertical and diagonal lines. These lines are shown ahead of time by a network of pink lasers, allowing the player character to avoid them.
Drill Man's chip can be equipped to Sprayer weapons and causes them to fire "Jet Drills" when used, which go in a straight line and ignore terrain.
Battle Network era
Drill Man has a Net Navi equivalent in DrillMan.EXE, with a similar design, but additional drills on his feet. He appears as a boss in Mega Man Battle Network 3 and has no operator.
