Count Bomb[1] is a platform or enemy first appearing in Mega Man 6. It is a black, orb-like bomb with a number on it and a detonator on its top or side, which activates it.

In the Games

Mega Man 6

Sprite from Mega Man 6.

In Mega Man 6, Count Bombs appear only in the Frozen Island (Blizzard Man) stage. They usually serve as stationary platforms or obstacles that Mega Man is blocked by and which deflect his shots. Mega Man can safely jump on them, though in doing so, he might push down the detonator switch, activating a countdown that is displayed in large numbers on the bomb itself. Once the countdown has reached 0, the bomb explodes, which can harm Mega Man if he is too close and effectively removes the platform or obstacle (until it is scrolled off the screen).

Rather than having their detonator on top, some Count Bombs instead have theirs located on the side, letting Mega Man set off the countdown by pressing against them instead. Various Count Bombs, especially those with sideways switches, are placed in such a way that Mega Man must detonate them to proceed, sometimes requiring proper timing to not be harmed by the explosion or fall down in the process.

Mega Man III

Sprite from Mega Man III.

Count Bombs reappear in Mega Man III on the Game Boy, making them the only Mega Man 6 enemies to appear in the Game Boy series and despite not being present in either of the games that the game otherwise reuses its content from. Here, they appear and act similar, but now possess a visible fuse at the bottom that burns up as the numbers count down, and they also deal slightly more damage if Mega Man is caught in the blast.

These Count Bombs never appear in a sideways form and are found in the game's versions of Spark Man's stage, Shadow Man's stage, Drill Man's stage and Dr. Wily stage 2.
