Overdrive Ostrich debuted in Mega Man X2 as one of the eight Mavericks on the Stage Select screen. He serves as the boss of Desert Base Stage. The Japanese game manual states he is a former Maverick Hunter of the 7th Airborne Unit who lost his ability to fly in an accident, and was flattered into joining Sigma's rebellion instead. He has taken control of a missile base with plans to launch an air strike on Hunter Base.[1]

Overdrive Ostrich moves quickly and can always catch up to the player with his sharp attacks, but the arena's hills can be used to dodge his patterns. Defeating Overdrive Ostrich grants X the Sonic Slicer. His weakness is the Crystal Hunter, from Crystal Snail, which temporarily freezes him in place. A boss attack rematch with Overdrive Ostrich later occurs in X-Hunter Stage 4.

In Mega Man Xtreme 2, Overdrive Ostrich returns as a resurrected Maverick guardian of Laguz Island. He is one of the four bosses in Zero Mission, being the boss of Desert Stage. His defeat gives Sonic Slicer to X and Dash to Zero, and is weak to Strike Chain/Lightning. Overdrive Ostrich is later part of the boss attack in the Sigma Stage in Extreme Mode.

Mega Man X DiVE

In Mega Man X DiVE, Maverick Data of Overdrive Ostrich appears as the final boss of Chapter 6 in Story Mode, being fought in Floating Ruins 6-6. His defeat unlocks the Chip for Sonic Slicer. He also appeared as the boss Overdrive Ostrich EX in Total Power Battle mode.

However, Sigma did not intend to let his abilities go to waste. Ostrich is forever grateful to Sigma for showing him he could still be an excellent fighter on the ground. Ostrich has captured a hidden missile silo in the desert, and intends to carry out Sigma's order to launch a warhead at Hunter HQ.
Mega Man X DiVE He was a Maverick Hunter of the 7th Airborne Unit. Without the wings, he can no longer fly, but this allows him to make good use of his feet. Its Big Leap following a long sprint can easily crush his enemy.
