The X-Buster (エックスバスター) is a recurring weapon in the Mega Man franchise. It is a powerful arm-mounted buster that is the signature weapon of X.

In the Games

Mega Man X

In Mega Man X, the game's opening shows X's specifications, noting that his arms are equipped with the X-Buster a.k.a. the Mega Buster Mk.17 (ロックバスターMk.17), an Energy Amplifier (エネルギー増幅装置) to charge for Charge Shots, and a Variable Weapon System (武器可変システム) to access new Special Weapons. This shows that the X-Buster is an advanced iteration of the same technology as Mega Man's Mega Buster.

Much like the Mega Buster, the X-Buster fires yellow energy shots by default. It can also fire Charge Shots, initially being capable of a Charge Shot 1 and a Charge Shot 2. By equipping the Arm Parts, X obtains a third Charge Shot stage known as the Spiral Crush Buster. The X-Buster is also used to fire the Special Weapons obtained from Maverick bosses throughout the game.
