Crush Crawfish debuted in Mega Man X3 as one of the eight Mavericks on the Stage Select screen. He serves as the boss of Shipyard Stage. The Japanese game manual states that he was created for combat, but was sealed away when a glitch in his brain made him unable to tell friends from foes. Someone, likely Dr. Doppler, has reactivated him. He has now taken over a shipyard and attacks anyone who dares to enter.[2]

Crush Crawfish tries to pull the player close so he can snip them with his claws for heavy damage. Defeating Crawfish grants X the Spinning Blade. His weakness is Triad Thunder, from Volt Catfish, which briefly stuns him. A boss attack rematch with Crush Crawfish later occurs in Doppler Stage C.

Mega Man X Legacy Collection Crawfish was designed as a military combat Reploid, but his uncontrolled violence and inability to tell friend from foe led to him being kept in storage, buried at the back of a forgotten warehouse. Somehow he has reawakened and taken over the naval yard, where he mercilessly cuts up any who come near. Once caught in his massive claws, most targets have zero chance of survival. If only there were a way to overload his faulty cognitive circuits...

Behind the Scenes

Developer Commentary

"Itou from the Legends series designed Crawfish. I think Inafune ended up drawing the actual illustration, though I doubt he remembers that." - (Hayato Kaji)[1]
"Someone else was drawing it at first, but they just couldn't get an approval on the rough draft, so Inafune had to step in and do it himself." - (Shinsuke Komaki)[1]
