Mega Man X7
Snipe Anteator debuts in Mega Man X7 as one of the eight Mavericks on the Stage Select screen. He is an elderly soul who challenges the Maverick Hunters from a digital maze, serving as the boss of the Cyber Field stage. He steadily acquires data during the battle, gaining more missiles, lasers, and drones over time. Defeating Snipe Anteator grants Sniper Missile to Axl and X, and Hieijin to Zero. His weakness is the Moving Wheel or Zankourin from Ride Boarski, which deals increased damage. A boss attack rematch with Snipe Anteator later occurs in the Crimson Palace.
|He disorients the Maverick Hunters from within a digital labyrinth he has created. He has the unusual ability to capture enemies with his long tongue to power up his own weapons.
|A difficult adversary who not only attacks with missiles, but also drones including laser pods and soldier ants. Avoid him using Axl's Rolling ability.
|Shouts and throws a spiraling wind vortex.
|Scatters ant-shaped bombs that self-destruct if the player gets close.
|Releases a drone that shoots lasers.
|Fires missiles that track the player.
|Dead End Kiss
|Extends his tongue to catch the player, granting him a power-up and dealing damage.
|A master of misdirection, Anteator has created a digital maze of the Maverick Hunters to get lost in. His unusual fighting style is to trap enemies with his long tongue to feed power to his built-in weapons.
Behind the Scenes
- "This is a character that equips parts as he takes damage, so he has joints all over his body. (By the way, this art is the final form). His chest armor actually has an ant's face on it. When I saw him in the game, I was surprised to see that he was an old man." - (Concept Art Room)
|Snipe Ariquick (スナイプ・アリクイック)
|"Ariquick" is derived from the Japanese "arikui" (アリクイ), meaning anteater, and the word "quick".
|"Anteator" is a corruption of the word anteater.
