Optic Sunflower debuted in Mega Man X8 as one of the eight Mavericks on the Stage Select screen. He is a new generation Reploid who rebels by making the virtual reality training program "Helios" go haywire, serving as the boss of the Troia Base stage. He teleports around his arena launching light attacks, occasionally warping the platforms layout. Defeating Optic Sunflower grants Shining Ray to X, Tenshouha to Zero, and Ray Gun to Axl. His weakness is the Green Spinner, Youdantotsu, or Blast Launcher from Bamboo Pandamonium, which briefly stuns him. A boss attack rematch with Optic Sunflower later occurs in the Gateway stage.
