Morph Moth, known as Metamor Mothmeanos (メタモル・モスミーノス) in Japan, is a Maverick from the X era, first appearing as one of the main bosses in Mega Man X2. He is a scrap-themed Reploid based on a moth, who evolves from a bagworm form into a flying menace. He is a mysterious prototype for a highly-advanced transformation technology.
Morph Moth debuted in Mega Man X2 as one of the eight Mavericks on the Stage Select screen. He is the boss of Robot Junkyard Stage. The Japanese manual states that he is a Reploid of unknown origin with highly-advanced circuitry that allows him to evolve his body by absorbing scrap, though he has a somewhat lazy disposition. He is using junk from the scrapyard to create Maverick soldiers.[2]
Morph Moth begins the battle in his bagworm form, which grows larger as it absorbs scrap from the arena. Once he is at half health, he evolves into his moth form and attacks from above. Defeating Morph Moth grants X the Silk Shot. His weakness is the Speed Burner, from Flame Stag, which wraps him in flames. A boss attack rematch with Morph Moth later occurs in X-Hunter Stage 4.
In Mega Man Xtreme 2, Morph Moth returns for the Boss Attack mode alongside the other Mega Man Xtreme bosses. His weakness is adjusted to Ray Claw/Rising.
Moth is a strange Reploid not found in any database. A prototype equipped with advanced circuitry, he may take a lackadaisical approach to his duties, but his abilities are fearsome; he can absorb the junk from scrap Reploids to power himself up. Under Sigma's orders, he has occupied a robot junkyard and is using its scrap to resurrect destroyed Mavericks.[3]
Affiliation unknown. A mysterious prototype Reploid with special circuitry. He is lazy and doesn't care much about anything. He has the ability to suck up the broken remains of other Reploids to grow from a bagworm to the form on the left. He seems to be weak against fire attacks. He has occupied a scrap metal factory and is creating Mavericks from the scraps there.[JP]
A Reploid of unknown affiliation. He has the unique ability to grow by absorbing the scraps of other Reploids. He produces Mavericks from junk at the scrap factory.[JP]
A mysterious Reploid who appeared in Mega Man X2, he has the special ability to transform by absorbing the residual heat of scrapped Reploids, and grows even during battle.[JP]
"Metamor" is derived from the word metamorphosis, which is the process of a larva changing into a moth. "Mothmeanos" may simply be a corruption of the word moth.
