Rainy Turtloid (レイニー・タートロイド) is a Maverick from the X era, appearing as one of the main bosses in Mega Man X6. He is a former water pollution researcher who is now part of the Nightmare Investigators.
In the Games
Mega Man X6
Rainy Turtloid debuted in Mega Man X6 as one of the eight Mavericks on the Stage Select screen. He serves as the boss of the Inami Temple, observing the Nightmare Rain. He was built by Gate for water purity research, with outrageous defensive power to protect against pollution and acid rain. His body was so strong that his colleagues grew concerned, but Gate denied their requests to weaken him and was punished. Ridden with guilt, Turtloid eventually took his own life. However, he was later resurrected by Gate to serve as a Nightmare Investigator.[1]
In battle, Rainy Turtloid attacks with missiles and rolls around the stage in his bladed shell, and can only be harmed once his two weakpoints are destroyed. Defeating Turtloid grants Meteor Rain to X and Ensuizan to Zero. His weakness is the Ice Burst or Hyoroga from Blizzard Wolfang; however, the latter cannot actually hit him, rendering it useless. A boss attack rematch with Rainy Turtloid later occurs in the ?????? stage.

Thanks to him, we can explore areas that have a pollution level A. But his high defense ability was regarded as too dangerous. Requests to weaken Turtloid ran high. Gate opposed this and was punished. Turtloid was so loyal to Gate... In the end, he died to save Gate." - Alia |
