The Nightmare Police (ナイトメアポリス) is a law enforcement group in the X era, created to maintain peace and order in Dopple Town. Two bosses in Mega Man X3, Bit and Byte, make up its ranks.

In the Games

Mega Man X3

The Nightmare Police only appear together in Mega Man X3. Bit and Byte were both created by Dr. Doppler, based on the designs of the most advanced Reploids in the world. They worked undercover to patrol Dopple Town in secret from the shadows.[1] However, when Doppler went Maverick he took Bit and Byte with him, getting them to lead the Maverick soldiers of his new Doppler Army.[2]

The Nightmare Police first appear after X has defeated two bosses, as Dr. Doppler orders them to capture X alive. Bit and Byte then randomly appear as sub-bosses for the rest of the game, where they can be destroyed early using their Special Weapon weaknesses. If not, they last appear in Doppler Stage A, where they merge into Godkarmachine O Inary for a final battle with X.
