Oil Field, more commonly known as Flame Man's Stage, is a stage that appeared in Mega Man 6 that has Flame Man as the stage's boss.
Description
This stage takes place in an Arabian temple during the day, with sand dunes and other temples off in the distance that can be seen through the windows and openings in the temple. This stage has a unique gimmick that is presented within the first few screens: oil slicks that cover some areas on the floor. If Mega Man walks in the oil, his walking and sliding speed is decreased along with his jump height. A few of the fire-based enemies in this stage, such as Fire Telly, and Fire Boy, who shoot fiery projectiles, can actually ignite a connected row of oil. Once ignited, these oil slicks are permanently on fire, and will instantly kill Mega Man, similarly to spikes. Oil that has been ignited will remain ignited even after death, and only returns to oil after Mega Man has gotten a game over. A great way to avoid this is by defeating the fire enemies or tanking their projectiles to avoid igniting the oil. Eventually, Mega Man will come across Pooker(s), an enemy unique to this stage. They can be defeated with a fully-charged buster shot, and if knocked into an oil slick, they will turn into a platform with a cloud that Mega Man can ride on. When as a platform, Pooker(s) can be used to traverse oil, ignited or not. Each time Mega Man lands on this platform, it will move forward a little bit in the direction of Mega Man when he starts his jump. After the section with the Pookers, Mega Man moves into an underground cave with red rocks for the final segment of this stage. Beating this stage will reward Mega Man with Flame Man’s weapon, and additionally reward him with the Rush Power Adaptor.

1-UP | ![]() |
This pickup is hidden inside of a block breakable by the Rush Power Adaptor near the start of the stage, which happens to be the only breakable block in the whole stage. Since the Rush Power Adaptor is picked up from this stage, you must revisit this stage to find and obtain this item. | |
E-Tank | File:ETank1.png | This pickup is in the red cave on the left side of a lower platform above some oil pools. It is protected by a Cyber Gaboyall. Mega Man can either jump from the oil to grab it or drop down, however dropping down is more dangerous if the Cyber Gabyoall hasn't been killed yet. |
Trivia
- When going through the stage, certain oil pools will already be set on fire without getting hit by a fire attack. This is because some oil pools across the stage are actually tied together in the game's code, meaing if the one earlier in the stage is ignited, than the one tied to it will also be ignited. This is most noticeable with the second oil pool in the Pooker room as it will likely get burned by the two Fire Tellies, causing one oil pool in the red cave to already be lit.
- An E-Tank can be found in a breakable block near the beginning of the stage, and this is the only breakable block in this entire stage.
