Shigaraky[1] is an enemy appearing in Mega Man 6. It is a robot based on a tanuki from Japanese folklore, with a hatch in its stomach and a metallic cone evoking a straw hat on its head.
In the Games
Mega Man 6
In Mega Man 6, Shigarakys are only found in the Impregnable Fortress (Yamato Man) stage, where they are the first enemy type encountered. They are stationary foes that periodically open the hatch in their stomach to release a large, bouncing ball, which either makes short hops or bounces much further and faster, decided at random. After a few bounces, the ball disappears, though Mega Man can also destroy it through damage.
The ball can drop items when it disappears, and defeating the Shigaraky or scrolling it off the screen also causes its ball to vanish instantly, a trick that can be exploited to spawn random items simply by walking back and forth in certain spots.
Official Data
Shigaraky appears under "Mega Man 6" in the Database in Mega Man Legacy Collection.
Shigaraky | |||
A mecha made to guard Dr. Wily's house. Maybe its cuteness is to put you off guard? The balls it attacks with can be destroyed, so it's not that threatening. | |||

Trivia
- Shigaraki is a town in Shiga Prefecture, Japan that is famous for its production of ceramic tanuki statues, which are referenced by the Shigaraky enemy's design.
- Despite the Database description claiming it was "made to guard Dr. Wily's house", no Shigarakys appear in his fortress.
