Cut Man, also spelt Cutman, is one of the Robot Masters built by Dr. Light and stolen by Dr. Wily in Mega Man. He was originally designed as a lumberjack robot, but reprogrammed by Wily. His weapon is the Rolling Cutter, which involves him plucking a large pair of scissors off his head and throwing it like a boomerang.
Place Holder, is a placeholder, say hi!

Cut Man has made several appearances throughout the Classic era, especially in other media and games outside of the main series. His status as one of Light's original robots causes him to be featured both as a villain and as a friend to Mega Man.

Cut Man is one of the six Robot Masters that can be chosen from the stage select screen in the original Mega Man. He fights by tossing his boomerang-like pair of scissors at Mega Man and can also jump over him.
Place Holder is a place holder type robot that attacks by se

His weakness is the Super Arm, acquired from Guts Man, which destroys him in two shots if both of the stone blocks found in his boss room hit him. He is also very vulnerable to Mega Buster shots, which deal more damage to him than to any other Robot Master in the game and cause him to stagger backwards a little. This makes him a noteworthy choice for a Robot Master to take on before Mega Man has any special weapons available.
His weakness is the Mega Buster, acquired from No One, which kills him in one hit, poor guy :(

Cut Man is one of the available players in Mega Man Soccer and also boasts his own team and field, known as Cut Field.

Mega Man: Dr. Wily's Revenge

Dr. Wily's Revenge sprite.

In Mega Man: Dr. Wily's Revenge, Cut Man is one of the first batch of Robot Masters that can be chosen on the stage select screen, appearing next to other returning Robot Masters from the first Mega Man. As Guts Man and the Super Arm are not in this game, Fire Storm acts as Cut Man's main weakness instead.

Mega Man: The Wily Wars

The Wily Wars sprite.

Like other bosses from his game, Cut Man appears in the Mega Man 1 remake of Mega Man: The Wily Wars, with no major changes apart from updated graphics and receiving his own stage portrait.

Mega Man 8

Cut Man appears in the Sega Saturn version of Mega Man 8 as a miniboss, guarding a Bolt in Duo's stage that can be acquired without a fight in other versions of the game.

Other Appearances

 • In Mega Man 7, a newspaper comic strip titled "CUTMAN 2" can be seen on the Capcom Times page showing Dr. Wily's arrest in the game's intro. The strip apparently features Cut Man and Guts Man, but cannot be seen in more detail.
 • In Mega Man X8, an 8-bit Cut Man can appear as a secret boss in Troia Base if the player also has save data for Mega Man X: Command Mission on the same PS2 Memory Card.

Battle Network era

Cut Man is the only Robot Master from the original Mega Man who does not have a Net Navi equivalent in the first Mega Man Battle Network game, but would receive one in Mega Man Battle Network 2. CutMan.exe is designed very similarly to the Robot Master, apart from the big "C" on his body, and has no operator, though he is affiliated with the organisation Gospel.

Super Smash Bros. series

Cut Man appears as Spirit #876 In Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, and his stage music appears by itself and in the Mega Man Retro Medley. Both of these tracks also appeared previously in Super Smash Bros. 4, where his stage theme plays on the Wily Castle stage.

Cut Man appears as a main character in the 1994 animated series, appearing in every episode to help Dr. Wily in his schemes.

Official Data

Mega Man 3 info card

In Mega Man 3, all humanoid robots known to have been created by Dr. Light at the time are shown on info cards in the game's ending, including the Robot Masters from the first game. They are listed with their original tasks despite Mega Man's card acknowledging that he is no longer an assistant robot, suggesting that they may have been restored to their intended function after Dr. Wily's initial defeat.
