Mega Man X7, known in Japan as Rockman X7 (ロックマンX7, Rokkuman X7) is the seventh entry in the main X series, developed by Capcom and released for the PlayStation 2 in 2003-2004 as the first Mega Man game on that system. A Windows port was later published by Multi Enterprise in Korea only.
Though an action platformer like its predecessors, the game made several changes to the formula, such as full 3D platforming gameplay in certain sections and the introduction of new reploid character Axl, who replaces X on the initial roster of playable characters.
Story
As Reploids work tirelessly to make the surface habitable once more since the Eurasia incident, Maverick crime is on the rise. To make matters worse, X decides to leave the front lines to focus on peaceful solutions to crime. Without him, the Maverick Hunters are ill-equipped to combat the crime wave, leading to a vigilante syndicate called Red Alert taking form. However, when a young Reploid named Axl defects from Red Alert, Zero takes him under his wing and a conflict for his custody erupts between the two factions. What is so special about this Axl?
