Zero (ゼロ) is a recurring protagonist and playable character in the Mega Man franchise. He first appeared as a deuteragonist in the X era, before starring in his own series in the Zero era, and being further referenced in the ZX era. He is a Reploid originally created by Dr. Wily for evil, who goes against his destiny and becomes a hero instead.
Zero is distinguished by his red, white, and yellow armor, horned helmet, long blond hair, and use of a beam saber called the Z-Saber.
In the Games
Classic era
In the Classic era, Zero is only mentioned retroactively. He never appears as a finished robot, though there are hints in Mega Man 2: The Power Fighters that Dr. Wily is planning or working on his construction.
X era
Zero debuted in Mega Man X, where he had forgotten his creation at the hands of Dr. Wily and worked as a skilled SA-Class Maverick Hunter.
Zero era
Some time at the end of the X era, Zero seals himself away. He is awakened 100 years later in the Zero era, having lost most of his memories, where he must face new threats and relearn about his past role in the Elf Wars, a major conflict that took place between the X era and Zero era.
