Volt Catfish, known as Electro Namazuros (エレキテル・ナマズロス) in Japan, is a Maverick from the X era, appearing as one of the main bosses in Mega Man X3. He is an electricity-themed Reploid based on a catfish, who fights with electric drones and suction attacks. He was formerly an emergency power generator Reploid before he was infected by the Sigma Virus in Dopple Town.

In the Games

Mega Man X3

Sprite from Mega Man X3.

Volt Catfish debuts in Mega Man X3 as one of the eight Mavericks on the Stage Select screen. He is an emergency power generator who was infected by the Sigma Virus in Dopple Town, and serves as the boss of Power Control Center Stage. His attacks can be tricky to avoid, especially when his health is low and he uses his ultimate move. Defeating Volt Catfish grants X the Triad Thunder. His weakness is the Tornado Fang, from Tunnel Rhino, which stuns him and resets his pattern. A boss attack rematch with Volt Catfish later occurs in Doppler Stage C.

Mega Man Xtreme 2

Sprite from Mega Man Xtreme 2.

In Mega Man Xtreme 2, Volt Catfish returns as a resurrected Maverick guardian of Laguz Island. He is one of the four bosses in Zero Mission, being the boss of Hydroelectric Plant Stage. He gives X and Zero the same Special Weapon, Tri-Thunder, though it functions differently for each. He is weak to Ray Claw and Rising. Volt Catfish is later part of the boss attack in the Sigma Stage in Extreme Mode.

Mega Man X DiVE

In Mega Man X DiVE, Maverick Data of Volt Catfish appears as the boss of Chapter 16 in Co-op Mode, being fought in Power Control Center 16-2. He is one of the few bosses to only appear in one mode; furthermore, he is one of the few bosses to not appear at all in Mega Man X DiVE Offline.

Other Game Appearances

Other Media

  • In the Rockman X3 manga, Volt Catfish reprises his role from Mega Man X3.
  • In the Archie Mega Man comic, Volt Catfish appears in the "Worlds Unite" arc as one of the many Mavericks resurrected in Sigma's army.

Catfish is equipped with a powerful built-in electricity generator; he was designed to help people during disasters by acting as a mobile power station. Now, there is little left of his kind personality.
As a Maverick, he has taken over the city's power grid control station... but the massive amounts of energy he has absorbed there have driven him berserk, challenging anyone to stop him if they can. To defeat him, you'll need some way of piercing his powerful electric shield.
