Split Mushroom debuts in Mega Man X4 as one of the eight Mavericks on the Stage Select screen. He is a laboratory manager Reploid who was decommissioned but revived by Sigma, and who serves as the boss of Bio Laboratory. He alternates between launching light clones at the player and running formations with an identical clone. Defeating Split Mushroom grants Soul Body to X, and Kuenbu and Kuenzan to Zero. His weakness is Lightning Web or Raijingeki from Web Spider, which fries him and resets his pattern. A boss attack rematch with Split Mushroom later occurs in Final Weapon 3.
