He is a former water pollution researcher who is now part of the Nightmare Investigators.
In the Games
Mega Man X6
Rainy Turtloid debuts in Mega Man X6 as one of the eight Mavericks on the Stage Select screen. He was built by Gate for water purity research, with outrageous defensive power to protect against pollution and acid rain. His body was so strong that his colleagues grew concerned, but Gate denied their requests to weaken him. Ridden with guilt, Turtloid eventually took his own life. However, he was later resurrected by Gate to serve as a Nightmare Investigator.[1]
Rainy Turtloid serves as the boss of the Inami Temple, observing the Nightmare Rain. He attacks with missiles and rolls around the stage in his bladed shell, and can only be harmed once his two weakpoints are destroyed. Defeating Rainy Turtloid grants Meteor Rain to X and Ensuizan to Zero. His weakness is the Ice Burst or Hyoroga from Blizzard Wolfang; however, the latter cannot actually hit him, rendering it useless. A boss attack rematch with Rainy Turtloid later occurs in the ?????? stage.

As an amphibious Reploid, Turtle was a valued member of a water purification team charged with investigating ocean and river water supplies. His shielded shell is designed to withstand even the harshest acid rain, so he is one of the few Reploids authorized to enter restricted "Level A" pollution zones. |
