Mega Man Zero 2, known as Rockman Zero 2 (ロックマンゼロ2) in Japan, is the second game in the Zero era, developed by Inti Creates, published by Capcom and released in 2003 for the Game Boy Advance. It is a direct sequel to Mega Man Zero, taking place a year after its predecessor and continuing the story of Zero, Ciel and the Resistance against Neo Arcadia's despotic regime.

The game was later re-released as part of the Mega Man Zero Collection on the Nintendo DS in 2010 and a native port was made as part of the Mega Man Zero/ZX Legacy Collection on multiple other systems in 2020.

Story

With Zero's return, Copy X, the ruler of Neo Arcadia, was overthrown. Ciel and her people were able to survive their worst crisis yet. But Zero did not return to Resistance Base. Ciel and her followers fled the half-destroyed Resistance Base to join up with another opposition resistance army.

Drastically changing its plan, Neo Arcadia decided to put Sage Harpuia, one of the Four Guardians, in charge. While Ciel and her wandering band started their lives at the new Resistance Base, the injured Zero is still being chased by the Neo Arcadian forces. It has been a year since the incident, and it's time for the tides of war to turn...[1]

Enemies

Minor Enemies

Zero encounters large numbers of minor foes throughout his adventure, most of which respawn whenever Zero comes back to their spawn point and can thus be destroyed an infinite number of times. Unlike other Mega Man games, the enemies found in an area are not constant, but may change depending on the current Template:MMZ2Link (and whether one is active at all). Therefore, the places in which certain enemies can be found may vary depending on the state of the game.

Most minor enemies in Mega Man Zero 2 like its predecessor have a specific Cyber-elf reward associated with them, which the player receives by destroying a certain number of the enemy while on a specific mission.

Sub-bosses

Sub-bosses are strong enemies that reside in their own boss arena and block Zero's way until they are defeated. Unlike its predecessor however, Mega Man Zero 2 features a handful of sub-bosses with many stages presenting more than a single sub-boss and some not at all. While a some sub-bosses will reward Zero with a Cyber-elf the first they are defeated, a select few do not reward him at all and can reappear or not outside of their original mission.

A special case in this game is a previous boss from Mega Man Zero, the Golem, that is now reduced to the status of sub-boss with elemental variants that have less health points and unique patterns and appears as a sort of bonus sub-boss in select stages. Despite that, the versions of this sub-boss present at the Residential Area mission do have more health similar to their original incarnation.
