Mega Man Zero 2, known as Rockman Zero 2 (ロックマンゼロ2, Rokkuman Zero Tsū) in Japan, is the second game in the Zero era, developed by Inti Creates, published by Capcom and released in 2003 for the Game Boy Advance. It is a direct sequel to Mega Man Zero, taking place a year after its predecessor and continuing the story of Zero, Ciel and the Resistance against Neo Arcadia's despotic regime.

The game was later re-released as part of the Mega Man Zero Collection on the Nintendo DS in 2010 and a native port was made as part of the Mega Man Zero/ZX Legacy Collection on multiple other systems in 2020.

Story

Spoiler warning: Plot and/or ending details follow.

Characters

Zero

Our hero recently awoke from 100 years of slumber to fight the Neo Arcadia. Wounded during his victorious battle with Copy X. Zero vanished again...[1]

Zero is the playable character for all of the game, once again helping the Resistance against Neo Arcadia's tyrannical regime.

After his battle against Copy X, Zero was left wounded on the outskirts of Neo Arcadia, wandering a desert and defeating wave after wave of countless Pantheons on his way for about a year.

Ciel

Ciel.

The top scientist is credited with the development of Reploids and Cyber Elves. With the onset of war. Ciel resigned her post to devote herself to peace as a Resistance leader.[1]

Since the fall of Copy X and the destruction of the Resistance's previous base, Ciel devoted herself to research and develop a new source of energy by studying the Baby elves, Crea and Prea. As such, she left the leadership of the Resistance to Commander Elpizo.

Elpizo

Elpizo.

Replacing the busy energy researcher Ciel, Elpizo is the acting commander in charge of military tactics.[1]

After Ciel's commitment to researching a new energy source, Elpizo was put on the military command of the Resistance. Unlike the scientist however, he takes on a more violent and aggressive approach that eventually sends him into a path of insanity. He serves as the primary antagonist.

Four Guardians

Fefnir, Harpuia and Leviathan are former Copy X's generals and protectors of Neo Arcadia. They enjoy fighting Zero and now have a special transformation known as Armed Phenomenon. They once again appear as bosses in certain missions and a rematch in their respective elemental temples, using their Armed Phenomenon transformations.

The Resistance

Various Resistance members.

Though Reploids. Ciel's co-workers at Resistance Base are extremely humanlike, with unique, individual personalities.[1]

  • Alouette - A young reploid girl who talks to Zero. She looks up to and admires Ciel, aspiring to be like her.
  • Andrew - An old reploid who awards Zero with items for listening to his stories.
  • Cerveau - Cerveau specializes in technical engineering. He took charge of healing Zero's injuries and improving war weapons. At Resistance Base, he is the man to ask for any weapon questions.[1]
    Cerveau.
    • Cerveau now plays a bigger role, as he is the one who repairs Zero and provides him with the Chain Rod from the remains of Zero's previous tool, the Triple Rod. Like the first game, he is who develops new weapons for Zero.
  • Ethos and Pathos - Two reploid soldiers who were part of Elpizo's Operation Righteous Strike. Their fate after the operation is currently left unknown, but presumably dead.
  • Hibou - A heavyset reploid who says he is working hard.
  • Hirondelle - A long-haired reploid who gathers information for the Resistance.
  • Menart - A young reploid boy and mischief maker who doesn't like working.
  • Perroquiet
  • Rocinolle - A nurse-like reploid who helps and aids the wounded reploids in maintenance room.
  • Rouge and Joan - Operators of the new Resistance Base. Alongside Elpizo, they are the ones giving Zero missions to accomplish.

X

Enemies

Minor Enemies

Zero encounters large numbers of minor foes throughout his adventure, most of which respawn whenever Zero comes back to their spawn point and can thus be destroyed an infinite number of times. Unlike other Mega Man games, the enemies found in an area are not constant, but may change depending on the current Template:MMZ2Link (and whether one is active at all). Therefore, the places in which certain enemies can be found may vary depending on the state of the game.

Most minor enemies in Mega Man Zero 2 like its predecessor have a specific Cyber-elf reward associated with them, which the player receives by destroying a certain number of the enemy while on a specific mission.
