The Gaea Armor (ガイアアーマー)[3] is a set of Armor Parts obtained from the Light Capsules in Mega Man X5.

In the Games

Mega Man X5

The Gaea Armor debuted in Mega Man X5. It is most notable for its Gaea Shot and its ability to walk on spikes. Unlike previous Armor Parts, all four programs of the Gaea Armor must be collected before it can be equipped. Additionally, the function of the Head Program has never been stated by Dr. Light, nor has it ever been elaborated on in any supplementary material.

Programs Location Effect
Head Program Planetarium Stage Function unknown.
Body Program Reploid Air Force Stage Reduces all damage received by 50%, and grants X a Giga Attack. Its Weapon Energy fills whenever X takes damage from enemy attacks, allowing X to use the Giga Attack to summon an energy sphere in front of himself.
Arm Program Magma Stage Upgrades X's X-Buster with the Gaea Shot (ガイアショット), which deals highly increased damage but has decreased range and can only be charged to Charge Shot 1. He can also Dash into Gaea Cubes in order to push them. However, X cannot use any Special Weapons.
Foot Program Jungle Stage Grants X the ability to touch spikes without taking any damage, and the ability to cling to walls indefinitely.

Mega Man X DiVE

In Mega Man X DiVE, Gaea Armor X appears as a playable Hunter Program. His Active Skills are the Gaea Shot and the Giga Attack.

Other Game Appearances

  • In TEPPEN, the Gaea Armor appears as one of X's selectable Hero Arts.

"With a solid chest piece and a design based around straight lines, I wanted to bring out a tough and powerful feeling in this illustration. It all started to feel a little cumbersome, so I designed the head piece based on Sanagiman from 'Inazuman'.[note 1] (laughs) Personally, I felt that the Falcon Armor was going to be the main attraction of 'X5', so I mostly designed the Gaea Armor to be like a side attraction." - (Haruki Suetsugu)[2]

"It's hard, heavy, and strong. That's why I tried to give it a thudding feel. The chest is a key point. As for color, I tried making its colors subdued, making a point to avoid using the vivid colors seen on the armors to date, while keeping it visually appealing. This was to distinguish it from other armors." - (SENSEI, Designer Comments)[4]
