Devilbat Schilt, known as Hellbat Schilt (ヘルバット・シルト) in Japan, is a boss from the Zero era, appearing as one of the main Mission bosses in Mega Man Zero 3. He is an electricity-themed Mutos Reploid based on a bat. He is a member of the Weil Numbers, formerly the Eight Gentle Judges before being brainwashed into servants of Dr. Weil.
In his Judge form, Schilt is a white Reploid with windswept hair. In his Punishment form, he becomes a purple bat Reploid with wings surrounding his body like a cloak.
In the Games
Mega Man Zero 3

Devilbat Schilt is one of the first four Mission bosses in Mega Man Zero 3. He was formerly the "Right Thunder Judge" (右雷審官) of the Eight Gentle Judges, but was brainwashed by Dr. Weil into one of his loyal Weil Numbers.
Schilt serves as the boss of the Mission "Destroy Factory" in Weapons Repair Factory, where he supervises the Mechaniloids repairing old weapons for Neo Arcadia. When Zero arrives, Schilt fights him to stop him from shutting down the factory. He is weak to ice, and defeating him grants Zero the Thunder Chip. If Zero is at Level A or higher, he also gains the EX Skill Saber Smash.
Schilt later returns as part of the Boss Attack in Weil's Laboratory.
Other Game Appearances
- In Mega Man Zero 4, an image of Devilbat Schilt appears in Dr. Weil's Enemy Inferno attack, using Thunder Reverb.
- In Mega Man ZX, Schilt reappears as a secret boss in Area N, behind a door that only opens if a Mega Man Zero 3 cartridge is inserted in the Nintendo DS, or by activating the Zero 3 link in the Mega Man Zero/ZX Legacy Collection release. He has the exact same battle strategy with additional voice lines.
Other Media
- In Remastered Tracks Rockman Zero Telos, Schilt appears in the Drama Tracks. He is first heard as one of the noble Eight Gentle Judges, hesitantly judging Mavericks under Copy X's harsh new rule. Later, he returns as a brainwashed Weil Number to mock the Four Guardians.

Nomenclature
Language | Name | Origin |
---|---|---|
Japanese | Hellbat Schilt (ヘルバット・シルト) | Hellbat is a portmanteau of "hell" and "bat", while Schilt is derived from the German word "schild" meaning shield, likely referring to his cape-like wings. |
English | Devilbat Schilt | Hellbat was changed to Devilbat, likely because "hell" can be profanity in certain contexts in English. |
