However, he became a ruthless tyrant who executes Reploids for the sake of the humans, initiating the events of Mega Man Zero and acting as the game's main antagonist.
In Mega Man Zero 3, Copy X is resurrected as Copy X MK. II (コピーエックスMK2) by Dr. Weil.

Mega Man Zero
Copy X debuts in Mega Man Zero, serving as the game's main antagonist. He is the leader of Neo Arcadia, responsible for the city-state's brutal treatment of Reploids in hopes of slowing an energy crisis. He is especially ruthless in his dealings with the Resistance, who live in defiance but also constant fear of his rule. Conversely, his followers often boast of his power and wisdom. His nature as a mere copy of X is a secret to nearly everyone, which is only revealed to Zero by Ciel after the Resistance Base is attacked. Ciel also informs Zero that she is the one who created Copy X, urging him to destroy him.
Copy X is the final boss, appearing in Neo Arcadia Core. Upon entering his throne room, Zero is halted by the remaining three of the Four Guardians, until Copy X orders them to leave. Copy X boasts that he made Neo Arcadia a utopia where Zero and the original X failed, but Zero rebuts this, leading to a battle. In his boss battle, Copy X equips the Ultimate Armor[Citation needed] and switches colors to use the elements of fire, ice, and electricity, similar to the original X's Special Weapon system. After he is defeated, Copy X becomes enraged, altering the room with pits and triggering a transformation into a seraph-like form. This form attacks with light, as Copy X proclaims himself to be judgement manifest. However, Zero still defeats him, causing him to crumble on the floor. His explosion consumes the entire area, but Zero is whisked away by the real X just in time.
