Gale Attack (烈風撃) is an EX Skill appearing in Mega Man Zero 3. It can be obtained by defeating Tretista Kelverian at Level A or higher. It allows Zero to perform a dashing stab with his Z-Saber.
In the Games
Mega Man Zero 3
In Mega Man Zero 3, Zero obtains Gale Attack by defeating Tretista Kelverian with a Level A or higher. By attacking with the Z-Saber during a grounded dash, Zero dashes with his Z-Saber held outwards to stab directly in front of himself, until the dash ends. It has no elemental alignment, but can hit enemies multiple times to deal increased damage. However, it can only be used on the ground.
Because Gale Attack is non-elemental, it can be used to its full potential while equipping other Elemental Chips. It is useful against most ground enemies because it does 12 damage per hit for 3 hits, potentially effectively doing 36 damage. For comparison, the Z-Saber's three hit combo does only 24 damage. Therefore, Gale Attack is the strongest attack Zero can do in any Mega Man Zero game before Chips.
Damage is halved against bosses, becoming 18, which is still powerful. Gale Attack's hit priority is 1, 2, and 3, so it can be used as a combo starter against bosses. A risk of using Gale Attack against bosses is that Zero may collide with them, making it a high-risk, high-reward EX Skill. A way to lower the risk is to use a Charge Shot to set the boss' hit priority to 1, then hit them with the last two hits of Gale Attack.
