Hunter Program

A Hunter Program (ハンタープログラム) is a type of character appearing in Mega Man X DiVE. They are the game's playable characters, autonomous programs that can be unlocked by RiCO and controlled by the Player to fix errors in the Deep Log by hunting Irregular Data. Most of them are based on existing characters from the Mega Man franchise and other Capcom properties.

In the Games

Mega Man X DiVE

In Mega Man X DiVE, Hunter Programs are introduced as digital beings whom the Player can use to fight Irregular Data in the Deep Log. Some showcase sentience at points in Story mode, but they are wholly subservient to the Player. Most are based on existing characters and forms throughout the X era, but there are also ones from every era of Mega Man and even crossover characters from other Capcom properties. There are also original characters; either representations of alternate histories (i.e. Iris -another-, χ-kai-), or characters from the Deep Log itself whom RiCO analyzes and manifests as Hunter Programs (i.e. ViA, Droitclair).

The first Hunter Program that RiCO provides is X. Subsequent Hunter Programs can be unlocked and upgraded using Memories, which are obtained via gacha in Lab Research, by purchasing them in the Store, or playing Story mode.

All Hunter Programs have the same basic set of movement abilities, including a Double Jump, Dash/Slide, and Air Dash. Hunter Programs have varying stats (Attack, Durability, Range, Support, and Control). Each has two Active Skills and up to five Passive Skills. There are four size categories — Medium, Large, Small, and Very Small — and this affects their jump height, hurtbox size, and Melee weapon range. Before play, Hunter Programs can be armed with two Weapons as their default attacks, two DiVE Triggers, three Cards, and six Equipments.

In the game's Offline release, event Hunter Programs can be bought from the store, but crossover Hunter Programs cannot be unlocked. There were also some Hunter Programs exclusive to the game's global online version, which shut down on 30 July 2024. Below is a list of every Hunter Program ever available in the game, organized by their exclusivity.

General Hunter Programs

These are the basic Hunter Programs that can be obtained at any time. In the original game, they were randomly obtained via gacha in Lab Research or purchased from the Store with Zenny. In Mega Man X DiVE Offline, they can only be purchased (the game gives out more Zenny to make up for it), but most are locked behind Story mode progression and certain stages must be cleared before they become available.

Limited Hunter Programs

These are Hunter Programs that can only be obtained with certain criteria. In the original game, they could only be obtained at certain times of the month when DiVE Festivals were occurring. In Mega Man X DiVE Offline, they must be purchased from the Store using Element Metals.

Seasonal Hunter Programs

These are Hunter Programs that are even more rare. In the original game, they could only be obtained at certain times of the year, during specific Seasonal Events. In Mega Man X DiVE Offline, they are purchased from the Store using Event Coupons, which can be obtained by completing any Seasonal Event.

These are Hunter Programs from crossover events. Some are characters from other Capcom games, but most are existing Mega Man X DiVE characters with a new design and abilities inspired by another game. These are not available in Mega Man X DiVE Offline, and with the closure of servers for the online game on 30 July 2024, it is no longer possible to obtain them.

Global Version Hunter Programs

These are Hunter Programs that were exclusive to the global online version of Mega Man X DiVE, in the period between the release of Offline and the global server shutdown. They were added to the game by NebulaJoy, not the original developers at Capcom Taiwan.
