Hunter Base (ハンターベース),[1] also known as Hunter Headquarters (ハンター本部) or Hunter HQ,[2][3] is a location in the X era. It serves as the main office and headquarters of the Maverick Hunters organization.

In the Games

Mega Man X2

Hunter Base first appears in Mega Man X2, as the setting for cutscenes when X speaks to Dr. Cain. If the player fails to collect all three of Zero's parts from the X-Hunters, they storm Hunter Base to steal his control chip from Dr. Cain so they can reconstruct him as a Maverick.

Hunter Base can also be seen on the map in the Stage Select screen. This building's identity as Hunter Base is only shown in a leaked prototype of Mega Man X2, where it is marked with "I.H" for "Irregular Hunters," the Japanese name of the Maverick Hunters. In this prototype, after defeating three Maverick bosses the building becomes damaged, possibly representing the attack by the X-Hunters.[4]

Mega Man X3

Hunter Base serves as the Opening Stage of Mega Man X3. X and Zero travel to Dopple Town to suppress Dr. Doppler's Maverick rebellion, but the Doppler Army attacks Hunter Base in their absence, forcing them to rush back to defend it. There, X is betrayed and captured by Mac, only to be freed by Zero, before he moves on to defeat Maoh the Giant and stop the attack.

X returns to Hunter Base in several cutscenes. If Zero is wounded in battle, he retreats to base and tells X to go on without him. Once all eight Maverick bosses are defeated, X also returns to Hunter Base to learn the location of Dr. Doppler's laboratory from Dr. Cain.

Mega Man X4

Hunter Base is the Stage Select screen in Mega Man X4. It is where X speaks to Double and Zero speaks to Iris between stages. It is also depicted in several fully-animated cutscenes, such as Zero's opening cutscene and Double's betrayal cutscene.

Mega Man X5

Hunter Base is featured heavily in Mega Man X5. Its Enigma and space shuttle are crucial to the game's plot, it serves as the setting for most cutscenes, and is the arena where the player fights Dynamo.

Mega Man X6

Hunter Base is the Stage Select screen in Mega Man X6.

Mega Man X7

Hunter Base is the setting of several cutscenes in Mega Man X7.

Mega Man X8

Hunter Base is the Stage Select screen in Mega Man X8.

Mega Man Maverick Hunter X

Hunter Base appears in Mega Man Maverick Hunter X, mainly in its prequel animation "The Day of Sigma" as a setting for several scenes.
