Net Timeline

The Alternate Timeline is a fan-made term referring to the timeline in which the Battle Network era and Star Force era take place. The largest difference from the Original Timeline is that technology advanced with a focus on the internet and telecommunications, rather than robotics.

Additionally, in the real world, these two eras (brands, more accurately) are licensed differently from the brands of the Original Timeline. Because of the involvement of companies such as Bandai and Shogakukan in both physical merchandise and the various anime series, these external companies have a say in print and merchandise alongside Capcom. This often influences the production of material for these eras: for example, UDON Mega Man Tribute artbook entirely excluded fan art from either of these two eras.
