A Special Weapon (特殊武器) is a recurring type of weapon in the Mega Man franchise. They are unique attacks that are obtained by defeating bosses such as Robot Masters or Mavericks. Unlocking new abilities by defeating bosses is a staple of the Mega Man franchise, and examples of this mechanic appear in nearly every era.
