A human (人間) is the most common and widespread species of primate, and the original citizens of the Earth in the Mega Man franchise. They are most notable for their creation of robots, NetNavis, and other technological beings who are the main characters of the series.

In the Games

Classic era

In the Classic era, humans such as Dr. Light and Dr. Wily are scientists who create robots. Dr. Wily misuses his robots for evil, forcing Dr. Light to upgrade his robot assistant Rock into Mega Man. Humans are frequently those suffering at the hands of Dr. Wily and his robot armies.

X era

In the X era, humans put advanced robots known as Reploids into production. Reploids possess free will and thought processes comparable to humans - however, some Reploids develop glitches, resenting or even acting out against the humans. These Reploids are labeled Mavericks, and are dealt with by an organization called the Maverick Hunters that fights to protect humans.

Zero era

In the Zero era, the Earth has been devastated by the Elf Wars, forcing the majority of humans to live within the city-state Neo Arcadia. The lines between humans and Reploids begins to blur, until there is an energy crisis and the ruler of Neo Arcadia, Copy X, blames the Reploids for it. This begins a period of great discrimination against Reploids, though the humans are not without their own trials under the tyranny of Copy X.

ZX era

In the ZX era, the world government Legion created laws to equalize humans and Reploids, enhancing humans with bionic robotic parts, while limiting the powers and lifespans of Reploids. The resulting cyborg humans were given the moniker Humanoid. Thanks to these laws, Humanoids and Reploids became almost indistinguishable, collectively being simply called humanity (ヒトビト).
