Virus
This article is a stub. You can help Mega Man Wiki by expanding it.
A virus (ウイルス) is a type of malicious computer program that attacks other computer programs, often infecting them to modify their data.[1] A wide variety of viruses appear in games and media across the Mega Man series.
In the Games
Classic era
In Mega Man 10, the virus Roboenza is a major plot point. Robots infected by it suffer symptoms similar to those a human suffers from an organic virus such as influenza, plus driving them to act disobediently and dangerously.
X era
In Mega Man X2, an evil computer virus called the Maverick Virus has the power to turn Reploids into Mavericks. At the end of the game, it is revealed that Sigma's true form is actually a manifestation of the Maverick Virus, known as the Sigma Virus. In future games, Sigma uses the Sigma Virus to corrupt many Reploids into his servants, such as Dr. Doppler in Mega Man X3 who had created a vaccine to the virus.
In Mega Man X5, the Sigma Virus interacts with another virus called the Colony Virus, named as such because it was planted in the space colony Eurasia. When the two viruses merge, they form the powerful Zero Virus, which warps reality itself and threatens to awaken Zero to his original self.
In Mega Man X6, Gate uses data on the Sigma Virus to create the Nightmare. It can then manifest in Nightmare Virus drones that can turn Reploids into zombie-like Mavericks.
Battle Network era
In the Mega Man Battle Network series, Viruses are the primary enemies that the player fights in the games. They are simple programs with animal-like tendencies, who tend to harm network infrastructure and attack NetNavis.
Star Force era
In the Mega Man Star Force series, radio wave creatures called EM Viruses are the enemies of the games. They behave similarly to the Viruses found in the Battle Network era.
