The Nintendo Entertainment System, commonly known as NES and known in Japan as the Family Computer (FC) or Famicom, is an 8-bit home console first released by Nintendo in Japan in 1983, becoming available in the rest of the world starting in 1985.

The NES is the system on which the Mega Man franchise originates, boasting seven of its earliest games, all set in the Classic era. It has also had an influence on later games in the series, with Mega Man 9 and Mega Man 10 deliberately aiming to evoke the console's graphical and sound limitations.

Due to their importance, almost all Mega Man games on the NES (apart from Wily & Right no RockBoard: That's Paradise) have been re-released and ported in many different forms, including compilation titles such as Rockman Complete Works and Mega Man Legacy Collection.
