Mega Man X

In Mega Man X, Hunter Rank is briefly mentioned in supplementary material as a way to illustrate the gap of power between X and other characters. The Maverick Hunters are divided into four ranks: Special A (特A) also known as SA, A, B, and C. Sigma, Zero, and Vile are all described as elite SA-Class Hunters, who only make up 0.01% of all Maverick Hunters, while X is an average B-Class Hunter.[1]

Mega Man X2

In Mega Man X2, it is briefly mentioned that X remains a B-Class Hunter despite his promotion to the leader of the 17th Elite Unit. However, it is also rumored among the Hunters that his abilities are far beyond that of an SA-Class Hunter.[2] At some point in the future, X was eventually promoted to an SA-Class Hunter.[3]

Mega Man X5

In Mega Man X5, Hunter Rank becomes a gameplay element.
