A Nightmare Soul (ナイトメアソウル)[1][2] is an item unique to Mega Man X6. It is a special energy source produced by the Nightmare that can increase X and Zero's Hunter Rank when collected.
Description
There are four types of Nightmare Souls in the game:

4 | Appears when a Nightmare Virus is destroyed, but not collected fast enough. If left for too long, it revives the Nightmare Virus entirely. |

200 | Appears when the player defeats one of the eight Nightmare Investigator bosses in under 90 seconds. Also can appear if they strike Dynamo with strong attacks such as his weakness, Meteor Rain/Ensuizan. |
