Category talk:Bosses

From Mega Man Wiki

Organisation

There's several things here I'm not entirely sure about that would need discussing. I've listed them below with considerations.

  • How should non-Robot Master bosses typically be categorised?
    • We could do "Fortress bosses", but that doesn't fit intro/other bosses.
    • We could just do "[game] bosses" like the Arcade games currently have, but that suggests the Robot Masters should be in it, too.
      • We could go both Bosses -> Robot Masters -> Mega Man 3 Robot Masters and Bosses -> Mega Man 3 bosses -> Mega Man 3 Robot Masters, so that the Robot Masters are always in "[game] Robot Masters", but that category would be placed in "[game] bosses" as well as "Robot Masters". Meanwhile, other bosses are directly in "[game] bosses". (This would be my preferred method.)
  • Should the Robot Master articles also be placed in the base category of Robot Masters? We normally go "most specific only", but as these are a group of characters that are commonly mixed-and-matched in other media, it could make sense to have them in the base category as well. That said, there are more than a hundred characters here.
    • Should said other media have its own specific category, such as "1994 animated series Robot Masters"? If so (I am thinking yes), would it negate a need for placing all Robot Masters in the base category?
  • Are Bosses a sub-category of Enemies? The game articles usually have an "Enemies" heading and then have minor enemies, minibosses and bosses listed under that. Personally, I have always consided "Enemies" to refer to minor enemies specifically when categorising things.
    • On that note, are minibosses a sub-category of "Bosses" or of "Enemies", or their own thing? (I am thinking "Enemies", as the games don't formally differentiate between them and minor enemies, unlike Bosses.)
    • Super Mario Wiki has "[game] Bosses" as a sub-category of "[game] Enemies" (as well as a more general Bosses category), but has the minor enemies from that game directly inside "[game] Enemies". So we could possibly have Articles -> Enemies -> Bosses -> Mega Man 7 bosses and Articles -> Enemies -> Mega Man 7 enemies (minor enemies are here) -> Mega Man 7 bosses.
