In favor: I agree with Unknowni123 that bringing over the existing content from MMKB (which has existed for well over a decade) would be more efficient than starting entirely from scratch. In addition, I am a strong proponent of leaving Fandom behind because of the company's track record of prioritizing money over what its users want. It'd be great to see the two wikis merge into a single, authoritative, independent site. [[User:Splashdown|Splashdown]] ([[User talk:Splashdown|talk]]) 01:40, 8 November 2023 (UTC)

Revision as of 01:40, 8 November 2023

Summary

This page is for discussing the formal approval or denial of merging the community and content of Mega Man Knowledge Base (MMKB) with Mega Man Wiki (MMW), along with the steps needed to make that complete. Any member of either community is free to show support for or against this action, and the final decision will be based on group consensus.

Notes: Support from people who aren't recognized as members of either community will be removed by staff of MMW, as per verification from staff on MMKB.

Voting will begin at 00:00 UTC on the 7th of November, and end 7 days later at 00:00 UTC. Commenting can start immediately.

If approved

If approved, the following actions will be taken:

  1. All staff roles from MMKB will be honored as staff on MMW. (e.g. admin there will be admin here)
  2. Content pages (such as in the main space) from MMKB will be imported under a new namespace MMKB:. Once there, it'll be converted to MMW formatting and standards, and
    • Merged with an already existing article
    • Moved to the main space on this wiki

Showing Support

To show which side you fall to, type a number sign (#), followed by 3 tildes ( ~ ) in the section, like so:

Comments

In favour: I'd rather not have to hand-write ~6000 pages of information, especially on topics have already been pretty well documented on the MMKB. The old wiki definitely has some organization and display problems, but they're all fixable. It'll still be a lot of work to review and adapt it to our new, more unified wiki style and standards, but I believe it's worth it. Unknowni123 (talk) 16:09, 6 November 2023 (UTC)

In favor: I think bringing MMKB's content over here and adapting it will be a very, VERY good thing. Since it's existed for a long while there's been some small cases of articles that haven't been touched in a long while, bringing them over and updating them is a good idea. Along with that, the reformatting of articles also gives us a chance to update information.
