Neon Tiger, known as Shining Tigerd (シャイニング・タイガード) in Japan, is a Maverick from the X era, appearing as one of the main bosses in Mega Man X3. He is a light-themed Reploid based on a tiger, who ambushes targets with his beam claws and light shots. He was formerly a poacher hunter in Dopple Town before he was infected by the Sigma Virus.
In the Games
Mega Man X3
Neon Tiger debuts in Mega Man X3 as one of the eight Mavericks on the Stage Select screen. He serves as the boss of Safari Park Stage. The Japanese game manual states that he was created to protect the small remaining number of natural animals from poachers in a safari park, but has now gone Maverick.[2]
Neon Tiger attacks from the walls, and while he doesn't move too quickly, his attack trajectories can be difficult to avoid. Defeating Tiger grants X the Ray Splasher. His weakness is the Spinning Blade, from Crush Crawfish, which stuns him and makes him retreat to a wall. A boss attack rematch with Neon Tiger later occurs in Doppler Stage C.
Mega Man Xtreme 2
In Mega Man Xtreme 2, Neon Tiger returns as a resurrected Maverick guardian of Laguz Island. He is one of the four bosses in X Mission, being the boss of Jungle Stage. He has new Special Weapons for X and Zero: Ray Claw and Rising, respectively. He is weak to Tornado Fang and Drill Crush. Neon Tiger is later part of the boss attack in the Sigma Stage in Extreme Mode.

Mega Man X Legacy Collection Gallery | Unlike most Reploids, Tiger is no stranger to fighting against humans; he was designed to hunt down poachers threatening the world's few remaining wild animals. Since he is solar-powered, he can operate indefinitely without an external power source, and his wickedly-sharp claws and extreme speed make him a tough enemy. To defeat him, you'll have to fight blades with blades! |

Developer Commentary
- "I designed Catfish and Tiger. The Catfish design came together pretty easily, and I'm quite happy with how it turned out. With Tiger, I'm particularly happy with he crystal bubbles on his body. I wanted those to look like cat eyes." - (Tatsuya Yoshikawa)[1]
