Gravity Beetle, known as Gravity Beetbood (グラビティ・ビートブード) in Japan, is a Maverick from the X era, appearing as one of the main bosses in Mega Man X3. He is a gravity-themed Reploid based on a rhinoceros beetle, who attacks with black holes and his giant horn. He was formerly a Maverick Hunter before he defected to join the Doppler Army.

Gravity Beetle debuts in Mega Man X3 as one of the eight Mavericks on the Stage Select screen. He serves as the boss of the Airborne Aircraft Carrier Stage. The game's Japanese manual states that he was formerly a Maverick Hunter in the 17th Elite Unit until he defected to the Doppler Army, hoping to avenge the death of his brother, Boomer Kuwanger, by fighting X. He now pilots an airborne aircraft carrier, attacking airports and delivering supplies for the revolt.

Gravity Beetle's attack pattern is simple but deals heavy damage, and can become complicated in his second phase due to the black hole he summons. Defeating Gravity Beetle grants X the Gravity Well. His weakness is the Ray Splasher, from Neon Tiger, which briefly stuns him. A boss attack rematch with Gravity Beetle later occurs in Doppler Stage C.

"I also did the illustrations for Beetle and Rhino. At the time, we were still applying color to cels, and it took forever to dry. This one time, I stayed late at work to finish off a piece, and just when I thought I was finally done, I noticed some color on the back of my hand. I looked at the cel and was like, 'Agh! I peeled the color off!' and had to start all over again. That was really awful." - (Shinsuke Komaki)
