Molier[1] is an enemy appearing in Mega Man 6. It is a large machine on tank tracks with two oversized drills attached to its front, which are constantly spinning while it moves.

In the Games

Mega Man 6

in-game sprite.

In Mega Man 6, Moliers can be found in the Restricted Area (Tomahawk Man) and Capital of Science (Knight Man) stages, as well as Mr. X stage 2. They act as simple, but comparatively big enemies that quickly advance on Mega Man, though they hesitate briefly before they start and whenever they go over the edge of a platform. They cannot turn around while moving, but are often positioned so that they cannot easily be avoided and must be destroyed before they reach Mega Man.

Although not complex to deal with, Moliers can deal 5 points of contact damage to Mega Man if not dispatched quickly, tied with the much more massive Power Slam for the most contact damage of any minor enemy in the game. If the Molier drives into a wall, it explodes instantly, though this explosion deals no damage.

Official Data

Molier appears under "Mega Man 6" in the Database in Mega Man Legacy Collection.

Related Enemies

Though less dangerous to touch, Molier seems based on a similar concept to another advancing drill enemy from the previous game:

  • Rolling Drill (Mega Man 5) - A respawning drill that kills Mega Man instantly, but moves slower, has less health and can be stood on.

It may also be related to the Mole enemies, flying drills debuting in Mega Man 2, though these move vertically and have no clear similarities other than both being based on robotic drills.

Trivia

  • Ground Man's drill transformation in Mega Man & Bass bears some resemblance to Molier, though this is likely by coincidence.
  • Despite the Legacy Collection Database recommending a charge shot, there is not enough time for Mega Man to fully charge up a Mega Buster shot before the Molier reaches him, assuming that he starts charging when the enemy appears and is not already holding a charge.
