Template:Proposed policy

The names of characters, items, and more in the Mega Man franchise have been debated amongst fans, between fans and official sources, and between official sources.

This page is our wiki's guide to deciding what article, categories, files, etc.

Some notes:

  1. These aren't ironclad rules. These are more guidelines to settle disputes, name new pages, and more. Decisions are to be made on a case-by-case basis and to reflect what's best for the page in question.
  2. No name is fixed. Pages can be moved to a new title if a there's sufficient reason to.
  3. If you aren't sure, ask. Feel free to bring up questions about a page's name on the respective discussion page of it.

Guidelines

Be concise

If two or more proposed names are being debated, the more concise one should have preference.

Examples:

  • Files from Mega Man (game) get MM1 in the title, since there's been many games with "Mega Man" in the title, there's only one "Mega Man 1", understood to be the first game ever.

Be brief

If two or more proposed names are being debated, the briefer one should get preference.
