Elec Man (or Elecman) is a Robot Master first appearing in the original Mega Man, where he is one of the robots built by Dr. Light and stolen by Dr. Wily. He was designed for work in a power plant, but reprogrammed into a fighter by Wily.

Elec Man is a black, red and yellow humanoid robot with a lightning bolt on his chest and a yellow mask, likewise with a lightning bolt motif. His weapon, the Thunder Beam, allows him to shoot devastating electric charges from his hands.

In the Games

Mega Man

Boss sprite from Mega Man.

In the original Mega Man, Elec Man is one of the main six Robot Masters, appearing third (in reading order) on the stage select screen. His stage is set inside a tower and is mostly vertical, with Thunder Blocks and other traps placed in Mega Man's way.

Unusually, Elec Man's boss room is entered from the bottom and contains two large blocks on the left side, which can be lifted and thrown with the Super Arm (though it is not his primary weakness). He spends the fight running and jumping mostly on the right side of the room, periodically firing electricity straight to the side; the projectiles are very large and deal 10 points of damage each, maknig them able to destroy Mega Man in only three hits.

Elec Man is weak against the Rolling Cutter, which deals 10 damage to him, and he also takes 4 damage from the Super Arm blocks and 2 from the Hyper Bomb. Defeating him grants Mega Man the Thunder Beam, which also shoots electricity up and down when used by him.

Mega Man: Dr. Wily's Revenge

Boss sprite from Dr. Wily's Revenge.

Elec Man is part of the first batch of Robot Masters in Mega Man: Dr. Wily's Revenge, appearing in the bottom-left corner on the stage select screen. His stage is again a tower full of hazards, and now includes electric fans and the lightning-themed Kaminari Goro enemies from Mega Man 2.

In battle, Elec Man himself has been made much less dangerous, as his electric charges have a smaller hitbox and deal less damage. He himself also has a tendency to repeat a simple jumping and walking pattern when shot at, which can lock him into a loop and prevent him from attacking entirely. His weakness remains as the Rolling Cutter, which deals 8 points of damage per hit.

Mega Man: The Wily Wars

The Wily Wars sprite.

Like other bosses from his game, Elec Man appears in the Mega Man 1 remake of Mega Man: The Wily Wars, with no major changes apart from updated graphics and receiving his own stage portrait.

Elec Man is one of the available players in Mega Man Soccer and also boasts his own team and field, known as Elec Field. His special is to power up the ball with electricity, electrocuting enemy players for 2 seconds.

Battle Network era

Elec Man has a NetNavi equivalent in ElecMan.EXE, appearing as a blue-skinned humanoid whose outfit includes four large electric coils on his back. He debuts as a main boss in the original Mega Man Battle Network with his operator, Count Zap.
