Viewing info for Up'n'Down in the Database.

The Database in Mega Man Legacy Collection is a collection of information about enemies, bosses and other characters that appear within the games included in the collection. It can be accessed from the title menu and allows the player to select a game and browse all the info cards related to it, one at a time.

In addition to viewing information, the player may also press a button while viewing the info card for one of the Robot Master bosses to instantly fight said boss - when doing so, Mega Man receives all weapons from the respective game, but no Energy Tanks.

Database Info

All Database cards include the following types of information:

MM1 - Mega Man Art.png
Image
Name
Description
HP 28 AT 01 MMLC - Icon Weakness.png N/A
  • Image - Official artwork of the subject, usually matching the art provided in art books. If there is no official art, an enlarged version of the subject's sprite is instead used.
  • Name - The name of the subject. In English, these names usually but not always match the ones provided in artbooks like Mega Man: Official Complete Works.
  • HP - The subject's hitpoints in the game, based on one uncharged Mega Buster shot dealing one point of damage. 00 means the enemy is invincible.
  • AT - How much damage an enemy deals to Mega Man. This usually reflects contact damage only, even for enemies that use projectiles. 00 means the enemy does not harm Mega Man.
  • MMLC - Icon Weakness.png - A weapon that the enemy is weak against, indicated by an icon. If it has only one hitpoint, this will usually display a Mega Buster icon; if the enemy is invincible, no weakness is listed.
  • Description - A brief description of the subject, usually including in-universe "flavour" text and basic gameplay advice.

Trivia

  • Database entries of the same type appear to be sorted in gojūon order according to their katakana/hiragana spellings, even when browsing the Databae in English.
  • The Mega Man 5 and Mega Man 6 Database entries use a regular Mega Buster shot as the generic weakness icon for the Mega Buster, while earlier games use what appears to be a charged shot, despite most of these early games lacking the ability to charge the Mega Buster. As the regular shot icon is used to signify a charged shot in Skeleton Joe's Mega Man 4 Database entry, it is possible that the two icons were switched around for the first four games by mistake.
  • Mega Man himself has Database entries at the beginning of the first three games' Databases that are identical apart from the artwork used. Mega Man 4 moves his entry after the Robot Master bosses and adds a sentence to his description mentioning Dr. Cossack, while Mega Man 5 and 6 remove his entry completely.
  • Mega Man 4 lacks an entry for Metall EX and instead covers it under Metall Swim; Mega Man 6 does not cover its regular Metall variety at all.
  • Dr. Cossack and Kalinka are the only human characters covered by the Database; their entries are at the end of Mega Man 4.
