Cut Man, also spelt Cutman, is one of the Robot Masters built by Dr. Light and stolen by Dr. Wily in Mega Man. He was originally designed as a lumberjack robot, but reprogrammed by Wily. His weapon is the Rolling Cutter, which involves him plucking a large pair of scissors off his head and throwing it like a boomerang.

Cut Man has made several appearances throughout the Classic era, especially in other media and games outside of the main series. His status as one of Light's original robots causes him to be featured both as a villain and as a friend to Mega Man.

Cut Man is one of the six Robot Masters that can be chosen from the stage select screen in the original Mega Man. He fights by tossing his boomerang-like pair of scissors at Mega Man and can also jump over him.

His weakness is the Super Arm, acquired from Guts Man, which destroys him in two shots if both of the stone blocks found in his boss room hit him. He is also very vulnerable to Mega Buster shots, which deal more damage to him than to any other Robot Master in the game and cause him to stagger backwards a little. This makes him a noteworthy choice for a Robot Master to take on before Mega Man has any special weapons available.

Mega Man: Dr. Wily's Revenge

In Mega Man: Dr. Wily's Revenge, Cut Man is one of the first batch of Robot Masters that can be chosen on the stage select screen, appearing next to other returning Robot Masters from the first Mega Man. As Guts Man and the Super Arm are not in this game, Fire Storm acts as Cut Man's main weakness instead.

Other Appearances

  • In Mega Man 7, a newspaper comic strip titled "CUTMAN 2" can be seen on the Capcom Times page showing Dr. Wily's arrest in the game's intro. The strip apparently features Cut Man and Guts Man, but cannot be seen in more detail.
