The First Armor (ファストアーマー)[1], also known as the Armor of Light (アーマーオブライト)[2], is a set of Armor Parts obtained from the Light Capsules in Mega Man X.

In the Games

Mega Man X

The First Armor debuted in Mega Man X. It is most notable for introducing the Dash function and Charge Shots for Special Weapons, which would later become staples of the series. It is also unique because, in a regular playthrough, the player must obtain at least two of the Armor Parts: the Light Capsule for the Foot Parts is unavoidable, while Zero ensures the player has Arm Parts at the scene of his death.

  • Head Parts: Grants X the ability to destroy certain blocks by jumping into them from below, headbutting them. Found in Sky Stage.
  • Body Parts: Reduces all damage received by 50%. Found in Forest Stage.
  • Arm Parts: Grants X a fourth Charge Shot level. At this fourth level, the X-Buster gains the Spiral Crush Buster (スパイラルクラッシュバスター) that fires a swirl of pink shots with a permeating effect. X can also charge Special Weapons, which each have their own unique Charge Shot. Found in Factory Stage, or granted by Zero in Sigma Stage 1.
  • Foot Parts: Grants X the ability to Dash, and to destroy certain blocks by Wall Kicking off of them. Found in Snow Mountain Stage.

Mega Man Xtreme

The First Armor returns digitally in the Mother Computer in Mega Man Xtreme. Its abilities are slightly different from in Mega Man X.

  • Head Parts: Grants X the ability to destroy certain blocks by jumping into them from below, headbutting them. Found in Airport Stage.
  • Body Parts: Reduces all damage received by 50%. Found in Volcanic Zone Stage.
  • Arm Parts: Grants X a fourth Charge Shot level. At this fourth level, the X-Buster again gains the Spiral Crush Buster, and X can charge Special Weapons, which each have their own unique Charge Shot. Found in Power Plant Stage.
  • Foot Parts: Grants X the ability to destroy certain blocks by Wall Kicking off of them, and increases horizontal Wall Kick distance. Found in Snowfield Stage.

Mega Man Maverick Hunter X

The First Armor returns in the remake Mega Man Maverick Hunter X, with a slight redesign and rearranged Light Capsule locations. Additionally, the Arm Parts differ based on whether the player got them from the Light Capsule or from Zero.

  • Head Parts: Grants X the ability to destroy certain blocks by jumping into them from below, headbutting them. Found in Abandoned Missile Base.
  • Body Parts: Reduces all damage received by 50%. Found in New-type Airport.
  • Arm Parts: Grants X a fourth Charge Shot level. X can charge Special Weapons, which each have their own unique Charge Shot. However, the X-Buster's Charge Shot depends on how the Arm Parts were obtained:
    • The Spiral Crush Buster (スパイラルクラッシュバスター) is found in the Light Capsule in Recon Base Ruins. It deals three hits; either up to three targets at once, or a single target up to three times.
    • The Zero Buster () is granted from Zero after defeating Vile in Sigma Palace 3. It deals a single hit with high power, making it effective against bosses.
  • Foot Parts: Grants X the ability to Dash, and to destroy certain blocks by Wall Kicking off of them. Found in Prototype Weapons Plant.

Mega Man X DiVE

In Mega Man X DiVE, First Armor X appears as a playable Hunter Program. His Active Skills are Spiral Crush Buster, which functions similarly as usual, and Headbutt, which weaponizes the Head Parts into a rising physical attack rather than a utility.
