Chip (X era)

A Chip (チップ) is a recurring type of item in the X era with many different uses. Similar to Parts, they are equippable items that can alter the player character's properties, including their offense, mobility, or defense.
In the Games
Mega Man X3
Chips are first introduced in Mega Man X3, where they have a very different usage than later appearances. These are power-ups for the Third Armor that are obtained from red Light Capsules.
Mega Man X7
After a long absence, Chips return in Mega Man X7 to virtually replace the Parts system from Mega Man X6.
Mega Man X8
In Mega Man X8, Chips return with another new system.
